A few months ago, I began toying with the idea of installing a shop-cam.
The concept of “tuning in” to witness happenings live and remotely has always intrigued me, so I thought setting up a live feed from my work shop might be an interesting component to offer to viewers of this website.
Welp… The more I thought about it, the less attractive the idea became. While it might be swell for viewers, the notion that y’all could watch me pick my nose and talk to myself and sing along to Petula Clark songs creeps me out.
I ran the idea by my Facebook and Twitter audience, and while the majority felt it would be a great idea, one fella offered, “I think you’ll lose some of your mystique”. At that moment, I decided against the idea. I’m not sure how much “mystique” I have going, but if I’ve got any at all, I’m going to preserve as much as I can.
No eye in the sky shall be installed. Use your imagination.
